From: Bill Ruef <102144.3242@compuserve.com> Subject: Chords for The Ledge As a warning to all guitarists attempting to play my transcriptions, I am a actually a bassist and only putz around a little on guitar, so while I can figure out the roots of the chords pretty easily, there may be some inaccuracies when it comes to minors and 7th's and the like. And of course as with most everyone's transcriptions, god knows what the the fuck Westerberg is saying a lot of the time so don't hold me to the lyrics. Anyway this should at least give you a good head start toward figuring this stuff out more accurately if you are so inclined. The Ledge: Verses are all played by arpegiating an open Em chord and adding a second string C on the 2nd half of each line to make it a C Chord. Most everything else is power chords - God's (and Pete Townshend's) gift to rock and roll !!! Em C (repeat 'til chorus) All eyes look up to me - High above filthy (city?) streets Heed no bull horn when it calls - watch me fly and die - watch me fall C D I'm the boy they can't ignore - for the first time in my life I'm sure C B (accents and stop) All the love - sent up high to pledge ...Won't reach the ledge (Verse II - same chords as I) Wind blows cold from the west - I smell coffee I smell donuts for the press A girl that I knew once years ago - Is tryin' to be reached on the phone C D I'm the boy they can't ignore - for the first time in my life I'm sure C B All the love - sent up high to pledge C D I'm the boy they can't ignore - for the first time in my life I'm sure C B All the love - sent up high to pledge ..... (quiet break Em / C / Em / C - 1 measure each) (Guitar solo over 8 measures of verse and first chorus pattern) (3) Priest kneels silent all is still - policeman reaches from the sill Watch him try - watch him try his best - there'll be no medal pinned to his chest (no C - stay on Em here) C D I'm the boy they can't ignore - for the first time in my life I'm sure C D I'm the boy they can't ignore - for the first time in my life I'm sure C D I'm the boy................ for the last time in my life C D Em (back to verse pattern) All the love - that they pledge, for the last time they might reach the leeeddddgggeeeeee......
