It's in open G (low to high - DGDGBD) and the main riff is something like (let ring) --7--7--7---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --7--7--7--------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --7--7--7h9p7------------------------------------------------------------------------ --7--7--7----------9-------------------------------------------------------------------- --7--7--7-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --0--0--7------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 0--0--0----10----10----10------------------------------------------------------------------------ 8--8--8----10----10----10------------------------------------------------------------------------ 7--7--7----9------9------9---------------------------------------------------------------------- 0--0--0----0------0------0--------------------------------------------------------------------- 0--0--0----0------0------0---------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (TAB split 'cause I can't format text worth shit, hence my reluctance to type these out) Otherwise, the chords for the chorus are right...you can play the G by doing a power chord on the 5th and letting the rest of the strings be somewhat open...play the D by barring the 7th fret a la the main riff, C by barring the 5th fret....you can play the Emin by just barring the A-D-G strings on the NINTH or you can twist your fingers and do it like Paul - bar the A-D-G strings with your THIRD finger on the NINTH fret, leaving your 2ND finger to play the B string on the EIGHTH fret (it's a twister). In Paul's old age he doesn't do that much anymore, so he plays a power chord on the 2nd fret and leaves the strings open (exactly how he plays the minor in "Left Of The Dial" as well. For the COOL suspended riff he does after singing "Tomorrow's picking -valentines" you play the D by barring the 7th and alternating it with this chord -9- -8- -9- -7- -7- -0- Which, if your guitar was in standard tuning would be like doing a barred D7. While I had PTMM on the turntable and my guitar all tuned, I played through that album. Paul's sure a messy player! Like, he does really weird fills on Valentine, especially when he's playing the G - he strums the strings open but will fiddle with random notes here and there. It'd be such a freaking task to TAB it out exactly.
